Mann Elementary Dream Team
August 29, 2001 Meeting Minutes
Attendees: Amanda Doyle, Julia Engelhardt, Kim Cole,

Everyone agrees that Kim Cole is St. Louis’ answer to Martha
Stewart.
Ice Cream Kickoff Event
- Original
date we picked – September 16th - Rams home opener – not good
- New
date – in conjunction with open house 9/26
- Blue
Bunny ice cream will donate 3 gallon tubs (68 - 70 scoops) to us – will
include their cool new flavors – yippee!
- Ice
cream cones & scoops are still needed – Amanda will find
- Amanda
will check in with Sally
- Need
volunteers to scoop – have all of us – also can ask at TGHNA meeting the
night before – will need 10 people
- Napkins,
tables, trash cans - ask school - Amanda
- Flyer
for box tops for education - Brian
- Playground
skit (it sounds weird in the minutes, but really, it’s going to be way
cool!)
- We
will pantomine playing on a playground
- We
will wear their uniform - white top, blue or black bottom
- A
voiceover will say something to the effect of “wouldn’t this be even
better with playground equipment?”
- Then
Heather (who we volunteered without her knowledge!) will present our
ideas / work about the playground
- Kim
will try to scan in some pictures of playground equipment which we can
blow up into posters (Linda Riekes may have some examples)
- We’ll
do a dress rehearsal of the skit at TGHNA neighborhood meeting (9/25)
- Flyer
with contact info & next mtg date for parents - Amanda
- Amanda
will ask Sally to include us on open house flyer
Our New Name
- One of
the villages at Mann School is already called the Dream Team (darn the
luck!) so we need to come up with our own name
- Combining
the “it takes a village to raise a child” concept with her 1970’s
upbringing, Jan suggests The Village People and, surprisingly, the group
likes it!
- Kim
points out that if we call ourselves the Mann Village People, we can use
the abbreviation MVPs
- We are
SO clever!
Wonderful Wednesdays
- Once a
month (around 7:15 / 7:30 a.m., we are going to deliver donuts and juice
(or whatever “treat” means to you) to the teachers' lounge
- We’ll
include a note that we appreciate them
- To pay
for this, we can ask for extra change at neighborhood meetings – we can
make some cute change bucket with a Village People photo on it (or our
photo in Village People costumes – no, I am NOT making this up!!)
- Amanda
had a brilliant idea to call this Mann Magnificent Mondays. This idea was nixed when we asked Karen
what day teachers would really appreciate a break. It turns out that Wednesday is really
the best day, so the project is now called Wonderful Wednesdays.
- 1st
Wednesday of month – people will volunteer as their schedules allow. So far:
- Sept
5 - Amanda & Jan
- Oct
3 - Julia & Kim
- Nov
7 - Julia & Maureen
