PROFESSIONAL
EXPERIENCE
December 2002 to Present: Free Man
I'm a community instigator, landlord and freelance Web developer. Let me know if there's a project you'd like me to work on.

November 2000 to December 2002: Web Developer, LiveWire
I created database-driven Web applications using Linux/Apache/MySQL/Perl and Windows/IIS/SQL Server/ASP for clients including Ciba Specialty Chemicals, Wabtec, FREIGHTlist.com, BJC, Circuit City, LabCorp, MediaPOINTE, MODOT, RegionWise, Buck Consultants, Art on Canvas, Goodrich and Principia. I wrote front-end and back-end code, as well as requirement, design and test specs. Among the software packages I used were Concurrent Versions System (CVS), Visual InterDev, SQL Server Enterprise Manager, Cygwin, XEmacs, MiniVend and activePDF. Several of the sites I worked on dealt with confidential data that had to be secured and encrypted.

January 2000 to October 2000: Web Developer, Ask Jeeves for Schools
I used HTML, cascading style sheets, JavaScript, and Perl to help create educational CD-ROMs and Web sites, including road-scholars.com, webworkshops.com and evergreenproject.com. I also wrote utilities in Visual Basic and Perl.

January 1997 to December 1999: Programmer Analyst, Marston Financial Systems, Inc.
I designed, programmed, tested, and maintained custom Windows software written in Visual Basic for Bank of America. I was responsible for the contact management, cash flow analysis, database editor, and financial calculator modules. These modules are part of a mortgage application and pre-qualification system that can be run on standalone laptops or in a networked telesales environment.

May 1996 to December 1996: Research Associate, Office of Social and Economic Data Analysis (OSEDA)
I created Web pages and CGI scripts for OSEDA, the Missouri State Census Data Center, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, University Outreach and Extension, and Kids Count in Missouri. In addition, I set HTML style guidelines, provided technical support, recommended and installed software, and researched and implemented new Web technologies, such as RealAudio.

March 1996 to August 1996: Programmer, Global Image
I wrote HTML and Perl code for commercial Web sites, including Addsheet Online, ComputerLand, the Columbia Downtown Association, and the National Association of Animal Breeders.

November 1995 to March 1996: Co-Owner, ArachNet, LLC
I co-founded ArachNet, a Web publishing, programming, and consulting company, during my senior year in college. In addition to writing HTML and Perl code, I planned marketing strategy, identified and contacted potential clients, wrote advertising copy, and kept abreast of new Web-related developments. Our clients included the College of Education and the Alumni Association of the University of Missouri.

September 1995 to September 1998: Freelance Consultant
I designed and created Web sites for the Missouri Mathematics Association for the Advancement of Teacher Training, the Missouri Middle School Mathematics project, the University of Missouri Mathematics Department, and Gateway Shoes.

August 1995 to December 1995: Peer Advisor, Freshman Interest Group (FIG) program
As a peer advisor for the World of Mathematics FIG at the University of Missouri, my responsibilities included teaching a one-credit-hour course, integrating the content of the three classes my students took, tutoring, academic advising, developing and grading assignments, and serving as a source of information about the university and the field of mathematics. I also taught the other peer advisors and my students how to use the technological resources on campus and was hired to create the home page for the FIG program.

June 1995 to November 1995: Programming Assistant, Columbia Housing Authority
I supervised the computer lab at the "Blind" Boone Community Center for children from low-income families. In this role, I helped K-12 students with their homework, kept the computers up and running, and evaluated and installed educational software.

September 1994 to December 1995: Tutor, Total Person Program
I tutored MU athletes in math, philosophy, and science in both group and individual settings.

Summers, 1990-1993: Coach and Pool Manager, Archway Pool Management
I coached a team of 100 swimmers, aged 5-18, and taught private swimming and diving lessons. I also communicated with parents and the pool board of directors, supervised a staff of four lifeguards, and performed lifeguard duties.
